Associate Director, Laura Corazzi
Laura Corazzi was born in Gubbio, a small town in the center of Italy. After her Master Course in International Economics and Trade she moved to Beijing and it was love at first sight. Following graduation, she came back in September 2010 and started working at Hutong School, where she is still working as an Internship Consultant. She joined the Future Dance Ensemble last winter, danced in Circus: Enter the Dark and was the Associate Director for Believe.
Before coming to Beijing, Ms. Corazzi lived in Rome for 5 years and there she studied Political Science and Economics. In the meantime she took classes and workshops with different teachers in various private schools, particularly at Spazio Danza in Rome. She performed the role of Svanilda in Coppelia in July 2009 and she taught ballet to children and adults.
In 2005 Ms. Corazzi won the audition for the London Contemporary Dance School and she moved to London for one year to attend the One Year Certificate of Higher Education. At LCDS she studied different styles of contemporary dance (Cunningham, Limon, release), ballet, choreography, improvisation and partnering. She performed at The Place, in London, for the final show of the school and other perfomances among which Somewhere, Nowhere, Anywhere, Everywhere (Laura Corazzi, Franziska Eckers, Benedicte Mottart) and War and Worship a contemporary and Indian dance featuring choreography by Thalia Maria Papadopoulos.
Ms. Corazzi has been dancing for 20 years and has had the chance to study many different dance styles, from ballet to contemporary, modern and jazz. She started dancing in Gubbio at "Umbria Ballet" under the direction of Marina Tofi and she studied there for more than 10 years. During these years at Umbria Ballet she took part to performances and competitions both in Italy and abroad. In the meantime she was teaching at the same school in her last years there.
In Gubbio she also joined "Angels", an amateur group performing musical theatre. She choreographed their production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita and choreographed and performed revisited versions of Chicago, Notre Dame de Paris and Les Misérables.
Since she came back to Beijing a bit more than a year ago she got involved in the Future Dance Ensemble work and she found again her artistic dimension. She feels very lucky for this opportunity which is not only about performing and dancing but also meeting wonderful people from all over the world to share her biggest passion with.
